The purpose of this training is to provide hands-on instruction on meeting Section 508 guidelines as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act. Each college is encouraged to send two Distance Education instructors to learn how to modify web-base course content and assistive technologies available to online students. The training will be held at Surry Community College in Dobson, North Carolina. Participants should plan to attend one of the sessions listed below. Each session will begin at 9:00am and end at 3:00pm. NOTE: Lunch is on your own.
Session 1: Monday, March 20

Session 3: Wednesday, April 5
Session 4: Thursday, April 6
Session 5: Friday, April 7
The NC Community College System is participating in a grant to provide information and training concerning accessibility issues, compliance guidelines and policies. The results of this initiative will be implemented statewide for use by all community colleges. Assistive technologies will be identified and training will be conducted to assist colleges in meeting these guidelines.
This project is a collaborative effort among Catawba Valley Community College, Blue Ridge Community College, and Surry Community College in partnership with the North Carolina Community College System.
